LET'S BRING
THE TEMPERATURE
DOWN.

LOWER THE HOSTILITY. NOT YOUR CONVICTIONS.

We don't have
to agree.

We don't have to think alike, vote alike or see the world the same way. Disagreement is part of democracy. Hatred doesn't have to be. We can argue passionately, challenge ideas and stand up for what we believe in without forgetting the humanity of the person on the other side.

Lower the hostility. Not your convictions.

A little less heat starts with us.

We can't control every argument, every headline or every comment online. But we can choose what we add to the conversation. Sometimes a few shared words can remind someone that disagreement doesn't have to mean hostility.

If these words resonate with you, put them on your Facebook or Instagram. Pass them on. Not because we all have to agree, but because we can all do something to bring the temperature down.

Lower the hostility.
Not your convictions.

We should never have to choose between standing firmly for what we believe and treating other people with dignity. Democracy depends on scrutiny, disagreement and the freedom to challenge ideas. We can ask difficult questions, speak plainly and hold people accountable without turning every disagreement into a personal attack. Being respectful does not mean being silent, neutral or unwilling to confront harm.

We all have a part to play in the temperature of public debate. Before we share a claim, respond to a stranger or dismiss someone whose views differ from our own, we can choose curiosity over assumptions and evidence over insults. We won't always agree, and we shouldn't expect to. But we can defend our convictions without forgetting that the people on the other side of an argument are human too.
